Description
This is a stunning 1961 Gibson ES330 in cherry red, in near mint condition, with no fading, no marks or chips, it still has a deep glossy finish. Bought from a Chicago music shop, the original price was $425 and the customer paid an extra $55 to have a Bigsby Vibrato added, this was done but the customer didn’t collect the guitar and it remained in storage in the stores basement.
We believe it was eventually sold in 1965, which matches the original tag and paperwork which is also included. Around this time the Bigsby was removed and the guitar was returned back to it’s original spec. Among the paperwork is a bag for the Bigsby and an envelope which contained a 1960’s ABR 1 with a retaining wire and an early 60’s foundry stamp. The original guarantee is with the paperwork.
This really is in near mint, original condition with very little sign of play, the frets have no wear and all parts including the tuners are in close to new condition, as you would expect for a guitar that has only left it’s case occasionally in the past 64 years. The case that comes with it (originally for a Gretsch) was purchased in the early 60’s for $35, the receipt is also among the paperwork.
